제가 그리는 인물은 단순한 형상이 아닙니다. 얼굴에 스며든 미묘한 긴장과 눈가에 머무는 빛의 흔적, 말하지 않아도 전해지는 숨결과 정서를 오래도록 바라봅니다. 붓질 하나하나에는 그 사람의 온기와 시간이 깃들어, 마침내 그림은 소리를 잃은 노래처럼 고요히 울려 퍼집니다. 저는 초상화를 단순한 기록으로 남기지 않습니다. 한 사람의 존재가 품은 서늘함과 따뜻함, 그 사이의 공기를 화폭 위에 번역하며, 관람객 여러분이 저마다의 감각으로 느낄 수 있는 무형의 음색을 담고자 합니다. 그렇게 완성된 인물은 말없이 곁에 머물며, 눈으로는 볼 수 없는 노랫소리와 숨결을 천천히 불러낼 것입니다.

The figures I paint are never mere representations. I linger on the subtle tensions in a face, the light that rests at the corner of an eye, the unspoken breath that carries a quiet emotion. Each stroke of the brush holds a trace of someone’s warmth and time, until the work itself begins to resonate like a song without sound. My portraits are not meant as simple records. They translate the coolness and warmth of a person’s presence, the air that lives between those two states, into a visual language. I hope the viewer can sense an intangible melody—something felt rather than heard—as the figure remains silently beside them, calling forth both breath and voice beyond what the eye can see.
